MPA Energy Solutions works with Goodna RSL to achieve their goal of building an energy efficient Function Centre

The Goodna RSL Function Centre building was in great need of refurbishment and after conducting a cost-benefit analysis, it was determined that it would be more cost effective to demolish the existing building and work on a new building from scratch.  In addition, the RSL wanted to make a positive contribution to the environment and to use as many eco-friendly products as possible.

MPA Energy Solutions was able to provide a comprehensive solar power solution from design and install through to commissioning and ongoing monitoring. MPA  installed a 22.5kW solar power system for Goodna RSL using 144 monocystalline solar panels and a Sunny Mini inverter which over the 20 year lifetime of the system will produce approximately 504,000 kWh of energy.  Included in the installation was a Sunny Matrix which enables the RSL to monitor the daily energy that the PV system has generated as well as the CO2 savings that have been made.  Over the expected 20 year lifetime of the system, approximately 524 tonnes of CO2 gas emissions will be saved. Goodna RSL has been extremely pleased with the solution provided by MPA Energy Solutions, which allowed them to make the switch to solar power with ease.  Not only are they reducing their carbon footprint but they are also reclaiming on average 75% of their monthly electricity bill in solar credits.

Goodna RSL General Manager, Deb Colbert said, “It’s the way to go for the future and every building should be looking to go “green” as much as possible. We recognised that by integrating eco-friendly products into the design of the new building that they will pay for themselves in the future.”  Not for profit sporting and community organisations can achieve the same substantial savings in electricity as the Goodna RSL has managed to realise as well as making a contribution to the environment and reducing their carbon footprint. Make the switch to solar today with MPA Energy Solutions.

If there are concerns that your club or community centre can’t afford the switch to green power, why not take advantage of the Solar Sport and Community Group Grant?  This Queensland Government grant is available for local not-for-profit sporting and community organisations to install solar panels and solar hot water systems on their facilities. Visit the website for more information at http://brightthing.energy.qld.gov.au/solar-sports-communities-grant.html
