Cost effective, versatile, flexible...

Problem

Previously, it's been difficult to find suitable lightweight, flexible solar panels for agricultural and other low bearing out-building roofs which has limited the potential usability of such building structures for PV installations.  Until now....

Solution

MPA is able to supply flexible thin film laminates which uses amorphous silicon triple junction cells in combination with coated durable metal sheets to provide a flexible module that can be fitted to any roof type and at any direction.  These flexible thin film laminates are mounted on thin aluminium backsheets which can then be mounted on low bearing roofs in one of two ways - either parallel or perpendicular to the direction of the recesses in the sheet metal, which are known as beads. If installed perpendicular to the beads, the modules can be screwed directly onto the raised beads and then fastened by means of drilling screws and a special sealing tape (butyl tape). If installed parallel to the direction of the beads, a substructure such as top hat rails, is required.  These are then screwed onto the elevations in the sheet metal at a right angle.

This new technology enables rural or industrial landowners to utilise their factories or outbuildings to generate solar power.
